John Warren
Assistant Headteacher
After Graduating from Queen Mary College, Mr Warren worked in various PR jobs in London, including for the British Humanist Association in Holborn, before deciding to become a teacher and share his love of learning.
Following completion of his PGCE in 1992-3, Mr Warren started his teaching career as a Special Needs, English and Drama Teacher in Grays, Essex. He moved on to teach in Norwich as a GCSE and A Level English Teacher, where he completed a Humanities MA at the University of East Anglia before moving to Australia in 2003 and teaching in Melbourne for 3 years as an English and History Teacher. Whilst in Australia, he studied at Monash University. Having wearied of too many poolside barbecues, he returned to England in 2006. During this time, he held various managerial roles, including KS3 and 4 curriculum and pastoral responsibilities.
Having always been a huge fan of Alternative 1980s and 1990s music, he decided to Hit the North and moved to Harrogate in 2006, teaching at King James School in Knaresborough, where he taught English, as well as A Level Media Studies, Language and Literature. Having always been passionate about inclusive education for disadvantaged students, he started working at the Grove Academy Pupil Referral Unit in Harrogate in 2012 as the Head of English, rising through the ranks to become Headteacher in 2018. During his time at the Grove, he completed an Open University degree in psychology and sociology.
Mr Warren joined Rossett in September 2021 because of its inclusive ethos; he has since led on setting up a Learning Support Centre to provide additional support for those pupils who are struggling with their learning.
