We aim to be a safe and happy place for all our pupils, where their mental and physical health is nurtured. Relationships are the foundation of everything we do; children are known as individuals by their teachers and teaching is planned carefully to meet their needs.
Our youngest children are taught our Golden Rules and we encourage them to follow these, to ensure that our school is a safe and happy place.
In Key Stage 2, the children are taught about the 5 R’s. These qualities help them to build upon their learning and to develop the skills to learn and grow.
The Saltergate 5 R's
In Key Stage 2, our children are taught about the 5 R’s. We want to encourage all our pupils to be:
Responsible
Taking responsibility for their own actions and behaviour
Taking a responsible attitude towards their environment, starting with their home and their school and then the world around them and beyond
Resilient
Maintaining a positive approach to learning and tackling challenges and set backs with confidence and determination
Recognising that everyone faces difficulties and that we all need to persist and continue working at things which are tricky
Resourceful
Working in a creative way to solve problems and suggest ideas, contributing to the life of the school
Using resources carefully and thoughtfully, sharing and recognising the impact we have on the environment
Respectful
Respecting ourselves by looking after our mental and physical health and asking for help when we need it
Showing respect for others in all that we do, viewing differences as positive and learning from one another
Valuing what is important to others and showing care and recognition through our language and our behaviour
Reflective
Learning from experiences and considering how we can grow and improve
Recognising our mistakes and accepting that we learn from them
Considering how our words and actions impact others and being mindful of the difference that we can make
