Rossett News Update - 14 March 2025

Endocrinology Trip

This week, a group of Year 9 students took part in an endocrinology trip, exploring the fascinating world of hormones and health. Activities included investigating the dangers of anabolic steroids, discovering the complexities of cell signalling, diagnosing endocrine conditions, and learning about diabetes and its risk factors.

A highlight for many was the chance to practise drawing blood from a realistic simulation arm, an exciting hands-on experience!

Students also had the opportunity to meet a range of professionals, from doctors to research scientists, gaining valuable insights into careers in endocrinology.

Throughout the day, our students represented Rossett with pride, asking thoughtful questions and demonstrating exemplary behaviour that reflected our school values. Well done to all involved for making the most of this inspiring experience!

Sporting Success

The Year 10 boys football team won 5-0 against Harrogate High in a friendly earlier this week.

And our U12 B team netballers secured 3rd place in the Harrogate & Craven Tournament. In a nail-biting semi-final, they narrowly lost 2-1 to St Aidan's in the final seconds, just missing out.

A fantastic effort by both teams, we are very proud!

World Down Syndrome Day

On Friday 21st March, we will be supporting World Down Syndrome Day by holding a bake sale and encouraging everyone to wear odd socks.

This special day is all about raising awareness of Down Syndrome and celebrating amazing individuals like our very own Amelie, who has passionately put forward this idea and designed the poster herself.

All proceeds from the bake sale will go to Down Syndrome Training & Support Service in Bingley, a charity that has been a huge support for Amelie.

We would love it if as many students, staff and families as possible could get involved, either by baking, donating, or just wearing your brightest odd socks to show your support.
